Meet Salim Ansari

Salim Ansari is a Lahore-based visual artist known for his mastery of oil, watercolor, and traditional miniature techniques. A graduate of the National College of Arts (BFA, Honors, 1995), his artistic foundation was shaped through extensive training with celebrated Pakistani masters including Professor Bashir Ahmed, Professor Muhammad Asif, and Professor Saeed Akhtar. Over the years, he has also gained experience in restoration, printmaking, and classical techniques, working with international artists from the United States and Japan. His career includes illustrating books, restoring important artworks, and serving as a jury member for MFA thesis evaluations at multiple universities.

Ansari’s works have been widely exhibited across Pakistan and internationally, with more than two decades of solo shows at renowned galleries such as Nomad Gallery, Nairang, Jharoka, Studio Seven, and the Alhamra Arts Council. He has also taught for over twenty years, serving as Assistant Professor at the National College of Arts and conducting numerous workshops and summer programs in painting. His artworks are part of major public and private collections, including Alhamra, UNICEF, American Express Bank, Engro, Pakistan Military Academy Kakul, and various government institutions. Dedicated to both practice and pedagogy, Salim Ansari continues to contribute significantly to the contemporary art landscape of Pakistan.
